Has the new year even fully arrived if you haven’t had a cheese board??
In my family, the answer is pretty much NO.
But this year our holiday season was a little bit different, because Brad and I went to bed as early as possible at every given opportunity… Including New Year’s Eve. That’s life with a newborn for ya! Our little one was sleeping so well that day, and you seriously couldn’t have paid us to stay up all night (we’ve been doing that most other nights anyway).
So this is my belated cheese board. It didn’t come together until we were a few days into the new year, but who cares? I’ll take on a wheel of brie any day. But my favorite part of this entire board, and the real star of the show, is this drunken goat cheese. It’s not as soft as traditional goat cheese, and has a milder, less tangy flavor.
It’s SOOOOOOO good you guys. Especially when it’s topped with a heavy-handed drizzle of honey and a shower of roasted pistachios.
I also found another favorite of mine, this bleu cheese (which will be showing up several more times in recipes coming soon!) and it went really well with the other toppings we had.
One of my favorite combos was the goat cheese with orange marmalade and thyme.
I’m also a big fan of apples with brie and pecans.
