Maple Porridge with Fresh Bartlett Pears and Walnuts

Of all the instant oatmeal flavors, I think maple is one of my favorites. This could be because maple smells like warmth and happiness, but I’m not totally sure. What I do know, is that this maple porridge is ahhhhmazing with fresh pears, walnuts, and a drizzle of maple syrup. Add a little butter while it’s hot and you’ve got breakfast heaven! It’s a super simple recipe, so it’s definitely worth trying. Hopefully it adds a little bit of warmth and sweetness to the chilly mornings ahead!


Maple Porridge with Bartlett Pears and Walnuts

  • Servings: 4

A nutty twist on a quick and easy hot breakfast.



  • 4 cooked servings of millet porridge (or Cream of Wheat)
  • 1/2 tsp maple extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1-2 thinly sliced bartlett pears
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
  • Butter and maple syrup to taste


  1. Stir maple extract and salt into pot of hot porridge, then divide into four bowls. Top each with pear slices, chopped walnuts, a little butter, a drizzle of maple syrup, and milk if desired.
