If you love breakfast even half as much as I do, you need this syrup in your life. I’m serious–this is the best syrup EVER. It’s different than your traditional maple syrup (which I also love), because it’s light, frothy, buttery, caramelized… Need I go on? It’s the stuff of dreams, and it smells divine.
I particularly love it drizzled over pumpkin spice pancakes, but it also pairs well with my Buttermilk Birthday Pancakes (pictured), or french toast of any kind. Honestly, I think it would be good on just about anything.
Vanilla Buttermilk Syrup
The best syrup you will ever try! Frothy, buttery, and delicious on your favorite pancakes (or to eat with a spoon, I won't judge).
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Combine butter, sugar, and buttermilk in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat.
- Bring ingredients to a boil, and boil for one minute. Make sure to keep an eye on it as it will bubble up and become quite frothy.
- After boiling for one minute, remove from heat and mix in the vanilla and baking soda. Serve warm.
